Sending out an SOS for Houston

in Uncategorized

The severe weather caused by Hurricane Harvey may be clearing, but the health impacts of this disaster will be long-lasting.

The severe flooding seen throughout parts of Texas poses a considerable threat to the health of those in affected areas.

Floodwaters carry pathogens that can cause gastrointestinal illness in the form of diarrhea, vomiting, fever, stomach pain and dehydration. There is also significant risk of norovirus from contaminated food, which is highly contagious and causes acute gastroenteritis.

SOS Hydration was created to meet the World Health Organisation standards of rehydration, particularly for those suffering from the types of GI distress that is common after flooding.

Texas was one of the first states to carry SOS Hydration, and some of the SOS-family has been affected by this disaster, so we want to help where we can. We’ll be sending 10,000 packets of SOS Hydration to Texas for those who are suffering through no fault of their own.
